New Album in the Works! Cave Music! Back Home! Rocky Mountain Halloween!

The close of summer brought lots of exciting things for Taarka. After receiving the honor of kicking off our little town’s big festival, Rocky Mountain Folks Fest, which was a wonderful experience, we hunkered down and started working on a new album. The songs have been flowing like a spring this year, and we can’t wait to share them with you! In fact, here’s a new song that David wrote called PollyAnn.

This video is from a performance we did at our favorite venue, ever! On Sept 26, after spending the week at AmericanaFest in Nashville and playing at the Station Inn, which was great fun, we had the extreme pleasure of traveling in a direction we’ve never traveled for a show before. Down! We played the Bluegrass Underground concert series at Cumberland Caverns in McMinnville, TN, along with our friends Front Country. It was just awesome.

From there, we traveled to Raleigh, NC for our first ever IBMA (International Bluegrass Musicians Association) Conference. We were hugely honored to be chosen as an official showcase artist, and had a fabulous time pickin’ till the wee hours with our friends and checking out many wonderful bands. A favorite was this duo of absolutely incredible young musicians, Molly Tuttle and John Mailander. It was also great to see and hear our good friends Mr. Sun, a relatively new band featuring Darol Anger, Grant Gordy, Joe Walsh and Ethan Jodziewicz!

And then, full of good music and southern food, we headed home, and there we’ll stay for a little while. We’re pretty excited about the upcoming Halloween Weekend, as we’re teaming up with dear pals The RailSplitters for two shows on Oct. 29 (Hodi’s Half Note in Fort Collins – an all ages show!) and Oct. 31 (The Walnut Room in Denver). In the meantime, we’ll be working on the new album, which we expect to release in early spring of 2016, and enjoying autumn in our lovely Rocky Mountain home!!
